2b2t
2b2t is the largest anarchy server (No rules) in Minecraft. It is also one of the oldest servers every made. Since there are no rules, there is a lot of hackers and cyberbullies. People will ruthlessly bully others for their own entertainment, similar to real life. The people that play on that server should really learn some netiquette as they are extremely toxic towards others. This assignment taught me the unspoken rules of netiquette, which should be common sense but some people do not follow it.

Netiquette
Technology is an important aspect in everyone’s lives as most people use it daily. Manners on the internet are just as important as ones in real life. I define netiquette as using courteous behaviour online. The Merriam- Webster definition for netiquette is the correct or acceptable way of communicating on the internet. These definitions are quite similar.
Some common rules of netiquette are, “if you don’t want to say it in person, don’t say it online.” Most people ignore this rule and they say some rude stuff online. “Share your photos with discretion and respect people’s privacy.” I put these two together as many people share things online that others don’t want. An example of this could be a personal photo that you only want the person that you intended to see. Most netiquette rules should be similar to social etiquette ones. People shouldn’t post something that can be hurtful to another because they think it’s funny. Cyberbullying can be as bad as real bullying. Sometimes a joke can go too far and that can harm someone. Cyberbullying can be unintended as you can be making a joke but you should check up on the party that you’re making fun of to see if it’s okay.
There are a lot of consequences if you don’t follow proper netiquette. Many sites will ban users that don’t follow the proper rules. Some websites/apps can ban your ip so even if you try to create another account you won’t be able to access them again. A real life example of this would be getting banned at a store for life. If you post something extremely bad online you can get ‘cancelled’. Cancel culture is really popular with gen z and they ban a lot of people for their past mistakes. Your life can be ruined if you get cancelled, causing you to lose job opportunities and schools may reject you if they do a background check on you.
Netiquette shouldn’t be written out as definite rules as the internet is constantly evolving. Most people have common sense so they don’t need it written down. It should be talked about more generally and should be taught in school as many more people are using the internet every day. Netiquette is a set of unspoken rules so it isn’t necessary to have it written down. You should act how you would to people in real life.
Since the links didn’t work for me I took a different quiz. I believe the questions were quite similar. You should always confide in a trusted adult and watch your tone when typing things online. Everyone should try their best when dealing with difficult situations. Most people would pass quizzes like these as most are just common sense.
I don’t think I need to teach my peers too much about netiquette as its social etiquette and common sense. Most of my peers have these two qualities. I think they should know how to watch their tone and be respectful. They should act how they would in real life. People should know that doing something online can have the same effect as doing it in person.
Netiquette should be more common in society today. Improper usage of technology can sour relationships with others. It is important to learn proper netiquette.
